Obituary of Thomas F. Sheerin, Jr.

Tom passed away on August 19, 2021 with his wife at his side in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, which had been his home for over 30 years. Tom was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 4, 1947 to parents Thomas and Rita. Tom grew up in Philadelphia. He spent his summers at his family home in Margate, NJ. He graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School and The Philadelphia College of Textile and Science. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Upon graduation, Tom began his career in the Chemical Industry. He began in a sales position. The next step was marketing management. Eventually, ending his career as International Director of Sales and Marketing. Tom traveled the world doing a job that he loved with a twinkle in his eye and enjoying the challenge. Tom's passion was traveling extensively with his wife, Janet. His other passion was his four Irish Setters. Tom had a goal to show a dog at the Westminster Dog Show, NYC. His dog Kacey, fulfilled that dream. Tom is survived by his beloved wife of almost 50 years, Janet (nee Riley) Also surviving him are his sisters, Carol Murphy (gene) and Jane, his aunts Dorothy McMahon, Marie Sheerin and many cousins. Tom will be remembered for his optimistic view of life. He was a guy whose glass was always half full. He lived life with a Can - Do Spirit! His loving family will miss him. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Saturday, September 25th 9:30 AM at Saint Hilary of Poitiers Parish, 820 Susquehanna Road, Rydal, PA 19046. Funeral mass will begin at 11 AM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W. Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
