Obituary of John Francis McCourt

M C C O U R T On the evening of April 6, 2020, John (Jack) F. McCourt Sr, 59, of Philadelphia, passed away suddenly while in the care of Nazareth Hospital. Born on June 5, 1960, he was the son of Joan McCourt and the late Edward McCourt Sr. Raised in Philadelphia’s Juniata Park neighborhood, he was a proud graduate of the Northeast Catholic High School, class of ‘78, and remained an integral organizing force in the alumni community throughout his life. He was also a graduate of La Salle University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Jack was an employee for the City of Philadelphia for over 30 years, majority of which was spent with the Division of Aviation as Occupational Safety Manager for the Philadelphia International and Northeast Airports. An avid sports fan, he was known as “Coach Jack” to the many young athletes of both the Oxford Circle Raiders and the Somerton Spartans. He lives on the memories of his wife of 31 years, Laurie McCourt; his children, John F. McCourt Jr, Krista McCourt, and Brendan McCourt; his siblings, Edward (Mary) McCourt Jr, Joseph (Marian) McCourt, Terrence (Tracy) McCourt, Joni (Joseph) Gillespie, Dennis McCourt, and Megan (Greg) Laskowski; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Saturday April 24th 12 NOON at St. Christopher Church 13301 Proctor Rd. Phila., PA 19116. Funeral Mass 1:30 PM. Interment Private.
